Soon, I will be re-introducing
SB 625 from last session. This bill was sponsored by Senators Stefano, Pennycuick, Coleman, Rothman, Hutchinson and J. Ward. This legislation will ensure greater checks-and-balances in our regulatory process by giving the General Assembly the authority to initiate the repeal of any regulation currently in effect by concurrent resolution. Both the House and the Senate would need to approve the resolution, as well as the Governor.
Costly, intrusive and pointless regulations, sometimes decades old, are an often-cited impediments to economic growth and place unnecessary burdens on Pennsylvania’s citizens and impact their daily lives.
Under current law, the General Assembly has the authority to block the implementation of a regulation before it takes effect. This legislation will simply extend this process to regulations that are already in effect.
Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation.
