Since 1968, people across the nation have taken time to honor the cultures and contributions of Americans who trace their roots back to Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America, and Spanish-speaking Caribbean nations. With more than one million Hispanic and Latino individuals calling Pennsylvania home, Hispanic Heritage Month offers all of us the opportunity to celebrate the rich culture and significant economic growth that Hispanic communities have brought to our state.

Hispanic Heritage Month coincides with the anniversary of independence for many of the Spanish-speaking nations in the Americas as well as D a de la Raza. To encourage all Pennsylvanians to honor Hispanic culture and history, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing September 15 through October 15, 2024, as Hispanic Heritage Month in Pennsylvania. This resolution calls attention to the many ways in which we rely on Hispanic individuals in our military, workforce, and communities.

Pennsylvania’s Hispanic communities have been faithful servants to our mission and values and have been active participants in the history and culture of this state. I hope you will join us in celebrating these communities by signing on to this resolution.
