It is the right of every Pennsylvanian to have continued access to necessary health care services without fear of financial ruin. This right is especially significant for residents with chronic conditions or serious illnesses, who might otherwise face bankruptcy due to exorbitant medical costs.

Prohibiting insurers from imposing annual and lifetime limits on the cost medical care allows for comprehensive, uninterrupted care, which leads to better health outcomes and healthier communities.

Thankfully, Federal prohibitions on annual and lifetime limits were established by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Unfortunately, disturbing trends at the federal level such as a recent ruling in Texas to nullify the ACA’s preventive care requirements highlights the fragile nature of existing health care protections. This is why I intend to introduce legislation that would enshrine such protections into state law.  By passing a state law prohibiting annual and lifetime coverage limits, we can ensure that Pennsylvanians will not lose their healthcare coverage due to the whims of federal courts or the political trends in Washington, D.C.

Please join me in protecting residents from the devastating costs of unexpected health issues. With this legislation, we can support the financial stability of families and contribute to the overall health and economic well-being of our commonwealth.
