In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution that designates September 15 through October 15 of 2024 as Hispanic Heritage Month in Pennsylvania, in recognition of the many achievements of Hispanic Americans and the rich culture they have added to our country and Commonwealth.
The United States has officially acknowledged the contributions of Hispanic Americans in our Nation since 1988 through a federal proclamation. Nearly one million people that identify as Hispanic or Latinx live in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and they are the largest and fastest growing minority ethnic group in the United States.
The Hispanic community has made a profound and positive influence on our Commonwealth through their strong commitment to family, faith, hard work, and service. They have enhanced and shaped our national character with centuries-old traditions that reflect the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural customs of their communities.
This resolution encourages all Pennsylvanians to celebrate the diversity and rich culture that make our Commonwealth and nation so extraordinary by proclaiming September 15th through October 15th as Hispanic Heritage Month in Pennsylvania.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
