In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to ensure that police animals in this Commonwealth receive vital emergency care.

Act 60 of 2022 provided the ability for an emergency response provider to transport a police animal that was injured in the line of duty to a veterinary clinic or other location where emergency medical care could be provided. However, 911 dispatchers may not be aware of the nearest emergency veterinary clinic in the given area, at the given time of day.

My legislation would require each 911 dispatch center to keep and maintain accurate information for emergency veterinary clinics in the region they serve. This will ensure that police animals that are injured are quickly transported to the nearest location that can provide adequate care for the police animal.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
