Highway work zones can be hazardous for even the most experienced drivers as they must quickly and safely navigate signage, flags, flashing lights, barriers, lane changes, stopped traffic, road crews, and more. For new and inexperienced drivers, these sudden changes can be overwhelming at best and deadly at worst.

As education is often the best method of prevention, I am introducing legislation that will require PennDOT to include information relating to safe driving practices in work zones along with related penalties. To ensure that potential new drivers have reviewed this critically important information, PennDOT must also include at least one question relating to safe driving in work zones on Pennsylvania’s driver’s license examination.

Please join me in supporting this commonsense measure to keep highway work zones safe for all our roadside workers and motorists.
