Pennsylvania has one of the highest gasoline taxes in the nation. Gas is $.576/gallon and diesel is $.741/gallon.  The fuel tax revenue is dedicated to the maintenance and repair of our roads and bridges yet PennDOT financially struggles to meet its goals and obligations.
Our taxpayers have a right to know the amount of fuel tax they are paying each time they fuel their vehicles.  This legislation, to be known as the “Fuel Tax Transparency Act” will require stickers to be placed on retail service station gasoline pumps.  Similar legislation was recently signed into law in Ohio.
I hope you will join in this simple but important and informative step to increase the transparency of fuel prices for our citizens.
Thank you for your consideration.
