In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to bring the Pennsylvania Nursing Law into compliance with federal rules.
In 2019, the U.S. Department of Education published a final rule eliminating the distinction between regional and national accreditation.
Currently, our Pennsylvania Nursing Law only recognizes regionally accredited educational institutions as being able to offer RN education programs. The legislation would allow for both regionally and nationally accredited programs in Pennsylvania to offer these programs.
This seemingly small change will provide big opportunities for additional schools to be able to offer nursing programs, making it easier to educate more nurses to meet health care needs.
Please join me in cosponsoring legislation to provide students with increased opportunities to meet their educational goals in nursing.
