I will be introducing a resolution beseeching the President of the United States, Congress, and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to take corrective action on the issue of Critical Skill Incentive (CSI) payments at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This matter directly impacts our veterans and underscores the need for responsible stewardship of taxpayer funds.

In September 2023, the VA erroneously awarded millions of dollars in CSI payments to senior executives at its central office. These CSIs, authorized by the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act, were intended to support employees possessing high-demand skills or skills in shortage areas. However, a review by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) revealed that the award of CSIs lacked adequate justification and was inconsistent with both the PACT Act and VA policy.

This situation demands immediate attention. Transparency and accountability are essential to prevent similar issues from recurring in the future. By cosponsoring this resolution, we can demonstrate our unwavering commitment to veterans' interests, fiscal responsibility, and the integrity of our government systems.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to your support.
