A RESOLUTION
1 Designating the week of May 6 through 12, 2024, as "Nurses Week"
2 in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, "National Nurses Week" begins May 6 and ends May 12
4 each year, in conjunction with Florence Nightingale's birthday;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has more than 242,000 registered
7 nurses, 52,400 licensed practical nurses, 20,100 clinical
8 registered nurse practitioners and 280 clinical nurse
9 specialists, which makes nursing the largest licensed health
10 care profession, based on statistics, in this Commonwealth; and
11 WHEREAS, The care provided by the nurses of this Commonwealth
12 is the primary component of a successful health care delivery
13 system in this Commonwealth; therefore be it
14 RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of May 6 through
15 12, 2024, as "Nurses Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
16 RESOLVED, That the Senate join nursing organizations in
17 recognizing the selfless service of Pennsylvania's nurses and
1 the overall importance of quality nursing care.
