In the near future, I plan on introducing legislation that would protect taxpayers by removing the local tax collector and county treasurer’s personal name on a tax notice, bill, or bank account where tax dollars are deposited.

My legislation would build upon the Local Tax Collection Law to completely remove the personal name of a tax collector or county treasurer from a tax notice or bill and would only require the name of the taxing office to be included on the tax notice or bill.

This would protect Pennsylvania taxpayers so that they would not directly pay a tax collector or county treasurer but would instead make the payment to the office, position, or entity—not to an individual person.  This corresponds with a safeguard currently in place to prevent any payment of taxes from being deposited into an account with only an individual’s name, further protecting taxpayer dollars.
