For older Pennsylvanians, cable TV is a vital lifeline.  Often it is the only source of important news and emergency information.  Print media has transitioned to online, and many older adults cannot use, afford, or have access to the Internet.

My legislation would provide eligible older adults a yearly rebate on their basic tier cable TV when there is a single cable TV service provider available in their municipality. To be eligible, the older adult must submit proof of basic tier cable TV service and that they have no other service options available.  Additionally, income limits would be in place to ensure this benefit will go to those who most need it.

Vulnerable older adults should not have to struggle to afford basic tier cable TV, jeopardizing their access to the daily information and entertainment they depend on. With my proposal, these Pennsylvanians will be assured continued service without the risk of financial hardship.

I hope that you will join me in assisting Pennsylvania’s older adults to sustain the cable TV services they rely upon.
