In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing the week surrounding Mother's Day (May 10 to 19, 2024) as “Go Public Gardens Days” in Pennsylvania.

Public gardens include botanical gardens, arboreta, cemeteries, zoological gardens, sculpture gardens, college and university campuses, historical homes, urban greening organizations, natural areas, and parks. In each of these gardens, plants are maintained for the purposes of public education, research, conservation, and enjoyment.

In our Commonwealth, public gardens employ approximately 2,000 people. Additionally, they annually attract 4.2 million visitors, and bring $500 million into our economy.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to celebrate and encourage visitation and volunteerism to these beautiful Pennsylvania public gardens.
