In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to clarify the Pennsylvania Constitution’s voter qualifications provisions in Article VII, Section 1, providing for a more specific prohibition on non-citizens voting in elections at any level in the Commonwealth.

In addition to amending this section, my legislation will also update the Pennsylvania Constitution to conform with the 26th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which lowered the voting age to 18 nationally.

Ensuring that elections are decided only by American citizens and that the qualifications set forth for our voters are accurate and explicit are important improvements to help restore Pennsylvanians’ confidence in our elections.

My legislation will mirror HB 1890 introduced by Representative Ryan Mackenzie in the House.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
