In the near future, I will be introducing legislation designating a bridge carrying Pennsylvania Route 74 over the Little Conewago Creek in Dover Township, York County, as the Corporal William E. Heilman Memorial Bridge.

William Emory Heilman was born on September 11th, 1947, in York County. Corporal Heilman entered the service of the United States Marine Corps on May 26th, 1966, during the Vietnam War. Corporal Heilman served in the Third Marine Amphibious Force, H&S Company. Corporal Heilman served in Vietnam for eight months until he was struck by an artillery rocket mortar on May 5th, 1968. Corporal Heilman passed away on May 5th, 1968, in South Vietnam, Quang Nam Province.

For his valiant service, Corporal Heilman was awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal.

I hope you will consider sponsoring this legislation and join me in honoring Corporal William E. Heilman.
