In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution to recognize the week of April 14th-20th as “National Public Safety Telecommunications Week” in Pennsylvania.

This week recognizes the vital and lifesaving work of 911 operators and dispatchers across the Commonwealth. We all know how important and impactful their work can be, whether it is dispatching an emergency response, assisting first responders at incidents, instructing first aid care over the phone, or comforting someone during the most stressful time of their life. They also fill the role of serving our first responders in the field. Their service is 24/7, year-round, and can be a difficult burden on the workers dealing with so many residents’ worst moments.

We hope this week helps signify the support the Commonwealth has for our often underappreciated 911 operators and dispatchers while also helping to spread the word of career potential in this rewarding field.

Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution to help recognize the lifesaving work of our public safety telecommunicators.
