Last December, lawmakers passed bipartisan legislation to make childcare more affordable by expanding the childcare and dependent tax credit. I believe we can do even more to help working families and their children by addressing learning costs beyond childcare. Many parents make incredible sacrifices to cover educational expenses for their children. It’s time for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to recognize and support their investment in child learning.

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will provide for a tax credit of up to $6,000 per child not enrolled in public school to cover learning expenses. Learning expenses are steadily increasing each year. With this legislation, we can help parents across the Commonwealth as they invest in their children’s future.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation that would make historic investments in the learning and development of Pennsylvania’s children and support the hardworking parents raising them. If you have questions, please contact Gregory Beckenbaugh at gbeckenbaugh@pasen.gov.
