Child care providers – those working at daycares and pre-schools and as nannies and caregivers – provide a critical service to our society, giving parents and guardians the ability to provide their children with high-quality education that is shown to have a myriad of beneficial effects throughout a child’s life. Furthermore, their tireless efforts enable parents to start a family without having to sacrifice their ability to maintain employment and financially provide for their family.

The National Association for Family Child Care recognizes the critically important work of child care providers every year on the Friday before Mother’s Day by celebrating Provider Appreciation Day. Provider Appreciation Day was first established in 1995 and is now celebrated across the country to thank the people who dedicate their lives to providing education to our children and support to our families.

To join in this celebration of our essential child care providers’ hard work, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing May 10, 2024, as Child Care Provider Appreciation Day in Pennsylvania. Please join me in showing our support for the individuals that serve so many families across the state and who protect and nurture our future.
