Our nation’s transplant shortage is dire. Seventeen people die every day in the United States while waiting for a viable organ for transplant. Nearly 6,000 Pennsylvanians and their families are currently on the organ donation waiting list.

Living organ donation decreases wait time for organ donation, provides an opportunity for better genetic matching, and reduces the need for dialysis.

Currently, Pennsylvania employers are eligible for tax credits for expenses associated with an employee’s organ donation. The donors themselves are not. This bill would allow living organ donors to reduce their tax liability for unreimbursed expenses associated with the donation.

Organ donation has touched the lives of so many in the Commonwealth, including our lives, the lives of our families, and our communities. Living donors should not have their life-saving generosity rewarded with outstanding bills for lodging, transportation, and other donation-related expenses.

Please join us in removing financial obstacles to the living donation process and supporting these heroes.
