We will soon be introducing a resolution designating the week of May 20 through May 25, 2024, as "Emergency Medical Services Week" in Pennsylvania. This year’s theme is Celebrating 50 years of EMS in line with the EMS Week Resource Center.

This resolution honors EMS workers who provide around-the-clock care to Pennsylvanians who face sudden life-threatening illness and injury. Specifically, this resolution highlights the sacrifices of doctors, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), firefighters, police, 911 dispatchers, and other first responders who rush to render aid to those in need. Our EMS first responders often provide life-saving care at great risk to their personal safety when they respond to the scene of brutal crimes, raging fires, and devastating traffic accidents.

As skilled professionals in the front lines of emergency care, volunteer and career members of our EMS network engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving abilities. For Pennsylvanians who may suddenly fall ill or suffer injury, access to high-quality emergency care significantly improves the recovery process and chances of survival.

Our EMS workers greatly deserve this annual recognition of their service to the people of Pennsylvania. Please join us in recognizing their hard work, strength, and dedication by co-sponsoring this legislation.
