Please join me as a co-sponsor of legislation to authorize the transfer of a Commonwealth right-of-way easement at the intersection of Southampton Road and Roosevelt Boulevard (US Route 1) at Benjamin Rush State Park in Philadelphia to the City of Philadelphia. The transfer of the right-of-way is necessary for highway improvements.

In exchange for this transfer, and to compensate the Commonwealth for the impact to Benjamin Rush State Park, the Commonwealth will receive facilities improvement to state-owned facilities and money which will be used to purchase additional land for the French Creek State Park.

This legislation is supported by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
Pennsylvania State Park lands are the common property of all Pennsylvanians, including generations yet to come. With this transaction, a much-needed improvement will occur while also maintaining park land available.
