A RESOLUTION
1 Urging the Congress of the United States to provide the State of
2 Israel with the support necessary to ensure its safety and
3 security and condemning the terrorist attack in Israel by
4 Hamas.
5 WHEREAS, On October 7, 2023, militant groups led by the
6 terrorist organization Hamas launched a large-scale invasion
7 against Israel from the Gaza Strip by land, air and sea; and
8 WHEREAS, Hostilities were initiated by a rocket barrage of
9 more than 5,000 missiles and with militants crossing the Gaza-
10 Israel border to attack nearby Israeli communities and military
11 bases, murdering 1,300 innocent Israelis; and
12 WHEREAS, The brutal attacks by Hamas have led to the injuring
13 of thousands more; and
14 WHEREAS, Hamas, through its highly coordinated attack, took
1 at least 150 innocent people of multiple nationalities,
2 including American citizens, elderly women, children and entire
3 families, who are now being held as hostages; and
4 WHEREAS, Countries across the globe have shown their support
5 for Israel in its efforts to defend itself and its people
6 against such atrocities launched by Hamas; and
7 WHEREAS, Thousands of innocent Palestinian people have been
8 killed as a result of the conflict; and
9 WHEREAS, On October 9, 2023, President Macron of France,
10 Chancellor Scholz of Germany, Prime Minister Meloni of Italy,
11 Prime Minister Sunak of the United Kingdom and President Biden
12 of the United States expressed their steadfast and united
13 support to the State of Israel and their unequivocal
14 condemnation of Hamas and its appalling acts of terrorism; and
15 WHEREAS, Members of the global community support justice and
16 safety for the Israeli and Palestinian people; and
17 WHEREAS, The violent actions of Hamas do not represent the
18 aspirations of the Palestinian people; therefore be it
19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
20 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania urge the Congress of the United
21 States to provide the State of Israel with the support necessary
22 to ensure its safety and security and condemn the terrorist
23 attack in Israel by Hamas; and be it further
24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
25 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania recognize that the terrorist
26 actions of Hamas have no justification and no legitimacy and
27 there must be universal condemnation of the terrorist actions;
28 and be it further
29 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
30 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania stand with Israel against the

1 barbaric war launched by Hamas; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
3 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania recognize our shared humanity with
4 all affected innocent people in the region and pray for a
5 lasting and just resolution to the current hostilities; and be
6 it further
7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
8 the Majority and Minority Leaders of the United States Senate
9 and the United States House of Representatives and to each
10 member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
