According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, asthma impacts approximately 1 in 13 kids in Pennsylvania. This incurable disease affects the lungs and can be triggered by something as seemingly benign as pollen, leading to an asthma attack. Wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing are all characteristics of an asthma attack.

This legislation would allow schools in Pennsylvania to stock asthma medication or inhalers that can help save the lives of children experiencing asthma attacks or respiratory distress in schools. This life-saving medication, called a short-acting bronchodilator, is easy to administer, inexpensive, and safe.

Providing easy access to this medication allows children to immediately return to their learning environment increasing educational and health outcomes in our schools.

Please join me in supporting this critical legislation for the children in Pennsylvania’s schools.
