Individuals with disabilities face enough challenges throughout their lives, but the opportunity to drive should not be one of them, especially when they can do so safely. For this to happen, the right people need to be at the table.
The Medical Advisory Board at PennDOT is responsible for formulating the physical and mental criteria that drivers must meet to obtain a license. Unfortunately, the board currently lacks the perspective of a certified driver rehabilitation specialist (CDRS) – a professional that works regularly with individuals with disabilities who are still capable of driving.
Help ensure that individuals with disabilities are better represented at PennDOT. Co-sponsor my legislation adding CDRS to the Medical Advisory Board, a necessary step in making sure that the right voices are heard.
