This bill introduces a new section to the Oklahoma Statutes regarding the admissibility of evidence in criminal cases involving domestic violence or abuse. Specifically, it allows evidence of prior acts of domestic violence or abuse by the defendant to be admissible in court, which can be considered relevant to the case. Additionally, the bill mandates that the state attorney must disclose this evidence, including witness statements or summaries of expected testimony, to the defendant at least fifteen days before the trial begins, unless the court permits a later disclosure for good cause.

The bill also defines "domestic violence or abuse" to encompass a range of behaviors, including controlling, coercive, or threatening actions, as well as psychological, physical, sexual, economic, or emotional abuse against individuals in specified relationships. Importantly, the new provisions do not limit the admission of evidence under other existing laws. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2026.
