This bill amends existing legislation regarding mobile food preparation vehicles in Oklahoma, specifically focusing on fire and life safety code compliance, permitting, and inspections. It removes the requirement for an annual operation permit decal for these vehicles and instead establishes that they will work with state and local fire and health safety requirements as a condition of licensure and operation. The bill mandates that all mobile food preparation vehicles capable of producing smoke or grease-laden vapors must comply with the most current adopted fire code, including the installation of portable fire extinguishers.
Additionally, the bill outlines that mobile food preparation vehicles will be under the jurisdiction of the State Fire Marshal, who will conduct annual inspections to ensure compliance with fire and life safety codes. The provisions set forth in the bill will expire on January 1, 2026, at which point all vehicles must adhere to the latest fire codes. The State Fire Marshal is also granted the authority to issue operational permits and enforce compliance, while local political subdivisions retain the ability to enforce their own regulations related to mobile food preparation vehicles. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2026.
