The Oklahoma Family Literacy Task Force Act establishes a new advisory body, the Oklahoma Family Literacy Task Force, tasked with developing a comprehensive family literacy strategy for the state. The Task Force will consist of up to twelve members, including representatives from various educational and community organizations, as well as parents and caregivers. Its duties include defining family literacy within Oklahoma's diverse contexts, examining the links between low literacy and various socio-economic factors, mapping existing literacy programs, identifying barriers to access, reviewing successful models from other states, and recommending actions to enhance family literacy initiatives.

The Task Force is required to submit a written report by December 1, 2027, detailing its findings, a statewide definition of family literacy, an inventory of current programs, policy recommendations, estimated fiscal impacts, and performance metrics for future initiatives. The State Department of Education will provide staff support, and members may be reimbursed for travel expenses. The Task Force will dissolve upon the submission of its final report, and the act is set to take effect on November 1, 2026.
