This bill amends existing legislation regarding maternity leave for state employees in Oklahoma. It expands the eligibility for paid maternity leave to all full-time employees of the state, removing the previous requirement that employees must have been employed for at least two years prior to requesting leave. The bill stipulates that any full-time employee in good standing is entitled to six weeks of paid maternity leave following the birth or adoption of a child. Additionally, the bill clarifies that this paid maternity leave is supplementary to any sick leave due to pregnancy.

Furthermore, the bill ensures that employees on maternity leave will receive their annual salary without interruption and that their service will be considered uninterrupted for purposes of seniority, pay advancement, and performance awards. The Director of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services is granted the authority to create rules for implementing these provisions. The act is set to take effect on January 1, 2027.
