This bill amends Section 180.62 of Title 19 of the Oklahoma Statutes, which pertains to the salaries of county officers. It establishes that the excise board members of the county will set the salaries for all elected county officials, ensuring that the basic salary for sheriffs and county commissioners is no less than that of other elected officials. The bill mandates that the basic salary for elected county officials must be at least Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000.00). Additionally, if a county's budget is insufficient to meet this minimum salary requirement, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation is directed to use County Improvements for Roads and Bridges (CIRB) funds to reimburse the county for any shortfall in salary payments.

Furthermore, the bill prohibits excise board members from reducing the salary of any elected county official who assumed office before the enactment of this legislation. It also repeals the previous formula for elected county official salaries outlined in Section 180.63. The effective date for this act is set for November 1, 2026.
