This bill amends Section 2-124 of Title 26 of the Oklahoma Statutes, which governs the appointment of inspectors, judges, and clerks for election precincts. The key changes include reducing the term of service for these officials from four years to two years and requiring the county central committees of the two major political parties to submit a list of nominees equal to two times the number of precincts in the county, rather than three times. Additionally, the bill modifies the procedure for appointing precinct officials in cases where the submitted list is insufficient, allowing the secretary of the county election board to appoint from the provided list before seeking nominees from outside it.

The bill also stipulates that the appointments must be made by July 1 of the year following a General Election for Governor, and it establishes that terms for appointed officials will begin on that date. In the event of a vacancy, the secretary is tasked with filling the unexpired term from registered voters within the county. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2026.
