This bill amends Section 2237 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes, which pertains to the Oklahoma Today Magazine Division within the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department. The amendment allows for the expansion of resources for the commission derived from advertising and sales related to the magazine and other digital publications. Specifically, it introduces provisions for employees who secure advertising, sponsorships, bulk subscriptions, and ancillary product sales to receive additional compensation in the form of a commission, which can be up to 25% of net sales. This commission structure is subject to the discretion of the Executive Director and is capped so that the total compensation does not exceed 95% of the Executive Director's salary.
Additionally, the bill clarifies that the sale of advertising and the negotiation of rates will not be governed by The Oklahoma Central Purchasing Act of 1974 or the Administrative Procedures Act. It also stipulates that articles and photographs produced for the magazine will be available for public inspection during business hours, although the Department is not obligated to provide copies beyond those sold through newsstand and subscription sales. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2026.
