This bill amends Section 1176 of Title 21 of the Oklahoma Statutes, which addresses the use of electronic communication devices to threaten, intimidate, or harass public officials. The amendments expand the definition of "public official" to include individuals elected or appointed to municipal offices, authorities, boards, commissions, and public school board members. Additionally, the bill clarifies that the protections for medical care providers do not apply when the incident is unrelated to their professional duties.

The penalties for using electronic communication to publish personally identifiable information of certain officials, including peace officers and public officials, remain the same, with misdemeanors punishable by up to six months in jail or a fine of up to $1,000 for first offenses, and harsher penalties for subsequent violations. The bill is set to take effect on November 1, 2026.
