This bill amends Section 91.2 of Title 20 of the Oklahoma Statutes to establish a new child protection docket within the district court system. The amendment introduces a provision that requires the presiding judge to create a child protection docket whenever a district court establishes a child protection program. Judges assigned to this docket will exclusively hear child protection cases and must receive specific training in child welfare law, child trauma, and the foster care system. Additionally, the Administrative Office of the Courts is directed to implement uniform procedures for all child protection dockets.
The bill also updates the existing dockets listed in the law by adding the child protection docket and changing the reference for the business docket from Section 17 to Section 91.7. The effective date for this legislation is set for November 1, 2026.
