This bill amends 59 O.S. 2021, Section 396.5b, which governs the continuing education requirements for funeral licensing in Oklahoma. The amendment allows the Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association to approve continuing education credits, in addition to the existing approval by the Oklahoma Funeral Board and the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. This change aims to provide more flexibility and options for licensees in fulfilling their continuing education requirements.

The bill maintains the existing structure of the continuing education requirements, which mandates that licensees submit evidence of completed courses within the twelve months preceding their license renewal or reactivation. It also stipulates that the Board will continue to maintain a list of approved courses and will not issue active renewal licenses unless the continuing education requirements are met. The provisions of this section do not apply to licensees on inactive status, nonresident licensees not engaged in practice in Oklahoma, or classes of licensees exempted by Board rules. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2026.
