This bill amends the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act by modifying the definition of "unconcealed firearm" or "open carry." The new definition specifies that an unconcealed firearm is a loaded or unloaded
disabled firearm that is visibly carried on a person. The previous language, which included the stipulation that the firearm could be carried using a holster, scabbard, sling, or case, has been
removed.
Additionally, the bill clarifies that the definitions of "pistol," "handgun," "rifle," and "shotgun" will remain consistent with existing definitions in other sections of the law. It also states that the definition of pistol or handgun does not apply to imitation pistols, flare guns, underwater fishing guns, or blank pistols. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2026.
