This bill establishes a new section in the Oklahoma Statutes to enhance the state Medicaid program's participation in the Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH) Model, which is a payment and service delivery initiative developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The TMaH Model aims to improve maternal and infant health outcomes while reducing overall program costs by addressing the comprehensive needs of pregnant and postpartum women. The Oklahoma Health Care Authority is granted the authority to accept and utilize federal funds specifically for developing and administering maternal health services for Medicaid members.
Additionally, the bill mandates the inclusion of nutrition support services for pregnant and postpartum women who face diet-related conditions or high-risk pregnancies. These services will encompass medically tailored home-delivered meals designed by Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, ensuring they meet the specific health needs of the individuals. While nutritional counseling may also be offered, it cannot be a prerequisite for receiving the home-delivered meals. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026, and includes an emergency clause for immediate implementation upon passage.
