This bill amends existing legislation regarding the minimum salary and benefits for certified personnel in Oklahoma public schools, effective from the 2025-2026 school year. It establishes a detailed minimum salary schedule based on years of experience and educational qualifications, including bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The bill also mandates that certified personnel who were employed during the 2022-2023 school year and were earning above the minimum salary schedule will receive a salary increase corresponding to their step level, provided they remain with the same district and their hours or duties are not reduced.
Additionally, the bill includes provisions for salary increases for various categories of educators, including those employed by technology center school districts, the Department of Corrections, the Office of Juvenile Affairs, and the State Department of Rehabilitation Services, contingent upon their continued employment and unchanged duties. The bill also clarifies that certain benefits, such as retirement contributions, are excluded from the definition of fringe benefits when calculating salaries. An emergency clause is included, allowing the act to take effect immediately upon passage and approval.
