This bill establishes a new requirement for certain state entities in Oklahoma to round the price of transactions paid in cash. Specifically, any agency, state board, bureau, commission, office, authority, public trust, or interstate commission that accepts cash payments must round the total amount of the transaction down to the nearest cent that is a multiple of five, excluding any tax levies. If a payment is made using both cash and another form of payment, only the cash portion will be subject to this rounding requirement.
The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2026, and includes an emergency clause, indicating that it is necessary for the preservation of public peace, health, or safety, allowing it to be enacted immediately upon passage and approval. The new law will be codified as Section 3120 of Title 74 in the Oklahoma Statutes.
