This bill establishes a new section in the Oklahoma Statutes that defines the "postpartum period" as the time frame starting from a woman's childbirth and lasting until one year after. It mandates that health care providers participating in the state Medicaid program conduct mental health screenings for postpartum depression during visits with Medicaid members or their infants within this period. Additionally, the bill ensures that these screenings will be reimbursable under the state Medicaid program.

To facilitate the implementation of these provisions, the Oklahoma Health Care Authority is required to seek any necessary federal approval and to promulgate rules as needed. The bill is set to take effect on November 1, 2026.
