This bill amends existing Oklahoma statutes related to the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI). It grants the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth the authority to request investigations by the OSBI or other law enforcement agencies when there is reasonable belief that criminally injurious conduct, including physical or sexual abuse of a child, has occurred. The bill modifies the language to clarify that the Executive Director can initiate these requests, replacing previous language that required cases to be transferred to the jurisdiction of the OSBI.
Additionally, the bill expands the list of individuals authorized to request investigations by the OSBI to include the Executive Director of the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth. This change aims to enhance the oversight and investigative capabilities regarding the welfare of children and youth in Oklahoma. The bill is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
