The bill establishes the "Oklahoma Volunteer Firefighter Support Program," which includes the creation of a grant program aimed at supporting the training needs of volunteer firefighters in Oklahoma. Under this program, volunteer firefighters can receive up to ten hours of training per year from programs approved by the State Fire Marshall or the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry's Forestry Division. The State Fire Marshall is tasked with creating an application system for grant assistance and has the authority to promulgate rules for the program.
Additionally, the bill creates the "Oklahoma Volunteer Firefighter Support Revolving Fund" within the State Treasury, which will be a continuous fund not subject to fiscal year limitations. This fund will consist of all monies received from various sources, including appropriations and donations, specifically designated for the program. The funds will be appropriated and can be budgeted and expended by the State Fire Marshall for the purposes outlined in the act. The bill is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
