This bill establishes rural mental health and treatment diversion pilot programs in Oklahoma, aimed at redirecting individuals with mental health issues away from the criminal justice system and into appropriate treatment options. The Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is tasked with developing and implementing these programs, contingent upon available funding. Additionally, the Department is authorized to enter into contracts necessary for the execution of these pilot programs.
To facilitate the implementation of these initiatives, the Department's Board will promulgate the necessary rules. The bill is set to take effect on November 1, 2025, and will be codified as Section 1000 of Title 43A in the Oklahoma Statutes.
