House Bill No. 2185 establishes new responsibilities for the Department of Human Services, the Office of Juvenile Affairs, and local government entities (counties, municipalities, or political subdivisions) when there is reason to believe that a crime has been committed against a child in their custody by an employee or contractor. Each entity is required to exercise due diligence in ensuring that law enforcement takes appropriate action, which may include conducting investigations or filing reports. Furthermore, they must follow up with law enforcement every thirty days until the case is resolved or the child is no longer in their custody. Documentation of these actions must be placed in the child's file.

The bill aims to enhance accountability and ensure that appropriate measures are taken in cases of suspected crimes against children under the care of these entities. It will be codified into the Oklahoma Statutes as new sections under Titles 10A and 30, and is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
