Senate Bill No. 1045 amends the existing law regarding the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists in Oklahoma. The bill re-creates the Board, which will continue until July 1, 2025, and consists of seven members appointed by the Governor, including five psychologists and two laypersons. Notably, the bill removes the previous requirement that the Governor appoint psychologists only from a list provided by the Oklahoma State Psychological Association. Instead, the Governor is now permitted to consider recommendations from various organizations representing psychologists or other relevant groups and individuals in the state when making appointments.

Additionally, the bill updates the process for filling vacancies on the Board. It allows the Governor to fill any vacancy for the unexpired term without the previous stipulation of selecting from a specific list of psychologists. The bill also includes conforming language updates and clarifies the grounds for removing Board members. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
