Senate Bill No. 928 establishes new legal definitions and penalties related to assault and battery against county employees in Oklahoma. The bill defines a "county employee" as any person employed by a county or a contractor working with the county. It creates two offenses: a misdemeanor for committing assault, battery, or assault and battery against a county employee, punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000; and a felony for committing aggravated battery or aggravated assault and battery against a county employee, punishable by up to two years in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

Additionally, the bill mandates that every county site must display a notice warning that felony charges may be filed against individuals committing aggravated assault or battery against county employees. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
