This bill establishes a new section in the Oklahoma Statutes that defines specific terms related to the protection of first responders and outlines unlawful behaviors towards them. It defines "first responder" to include peace officers, correctional officers, probation and parole officers, and emergency medical personnel. The term "harass" is also defined, referring to actions that intentionally cause substantial emotional distress to a first responder without a legitimate purpose.

The bill makes it unlawful for individuals to approach or remain within twenty-five feet of a first responder who has issued a verbal warning while they are performing their legal duties. Violations of this law can result in misdemeanor charges, with penalties including up to one year of imprisonment, a fine of up to $1,000, or both. The act is set to take effect on November 1, 2025.
