This bill amends Section 901.25a of Title 19 of the Oklahoma Statutes to facilitate the consolidation of fire protection districts when their territories are contiguous. It allows the boards of directors of two or more fire protection districts to develop a consolidation plan, which includes combining board members, determining the millage levy, and addressing asset ownership and indebtedness. The plan must be presented to the board of county commissioners for approval, which will set a hearing to allow public input on the proposed consolidation.

Additionally, the bill outlines the process for conducting an election among the qualified electors in the proposed district to vote on the consolidation. The election must be conducted in accordance with state election laws, and if at least three-fifths of the votes favor the consolidation, the board of county commissioners will officially declare the territory organized as a single fire protection district. The effective date for this act is set for November 1, 2025.
