Bill No. 676, introduced by Senators Paxton and Hill, amends the Suicide Prevention Act by designating the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as the lead agency responsible for implementing its provisions. The bill modifies the reporting process by requiring the Department to electronically submit an evaluation report on suicide prevention efforts to key legislative leaders and the Governor by July 1 each year. This change removes the previous requirement for cooperation with the Oklahoma Suicide Prevention Council in the evaluation process.

Additionally, the bill repeals several sections of existing law, including those related to the Oklahoma Suicide Prevention Council, the Advisory Committee of the South Central Interstate Forest Fire Protection Compact, the Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Advisory Council, and the Oklahoma School for the Visual and Performing Arts, among others. The effective date for this act is set for November 1, 2025.
