This bill mandates that certain publicly funded school districts in Oklahoma obtain and record the citizenship status of students at the time of enrollment. Specifically, it requires parents or legal guardians to provide proof of United States citizenship or legal immigration status through various acceptable documents, such as a birth certificate, passport, or permanent resident card. Each school district is also required to maintain records of students who do not provide this proof and submit an annual report to the State Department of Education detailing the number of students who provided proof of citizenship, proof of legal immigration status, or failed to provide any proof.

Additionally, the bill clarifies that nothing within this section should be interpreted as preventing any child from receiving their entitled education under state or federal law.
