This bill introduces a new provision in Oklahoma law that allows individuals applying for or renewing their driver licenses or identification cards to designate themselves as donors of durable medical equipment upon their death. The durable medical equipment can include items such as hearing aids, eyeglasses, walkers, canes, and wheelchairs. Service Oklahoma is tasked with creating rules to facilitate this designation, including the development of a mark or symbol on the license or ID that indicates the individual’s status as a donor, as well as determining where this information will be displayed on the credential.
The bill will be codified as Section 6-126 of Title 47 in the Oklahoma Statutes and is set to take effect on November 1, 2024. This initiative aims to promote the donation of essential medical equipment to non-profit entities, thereby enhancing the availability of such resources for those in need.
